There have been thousands of dance scenes in hundreds of movies since the invention of the motion picture early in the 20th century. From Gene Kelley and his umbrella in Singing in the Rain to Judy Garland and Ray Bolger skipping down the yellow brick road in The Wizard of Oz, there are many memorable dance performances on the silver screen.

But this scene has been called by some dance critics as the “best ever”. The world will never have seen such an amazing video. This scene was taken from the movie Stormy Weather starring Bill Robinson and Lena Home and it was very famous in the 1940s. But, there were two brothers, Harold and Favard Nicholas, who shone even more than the lead actors themselves for this incredible dance scene.

These brothers were dancing to “Jumpin’ Jive,” a period hit by Cab Calloway. Incredibly, the brothers were told simply to dance–there was no choreographer who put the scene together–and the scene was supposed to be replaced later with one that was tailored by the director and choreographer. But the unrehearsed dance was so brilliant and authentic it made it into the final cut of the movie.

Even today, people can’t help but remark how notably amazing this dance really is. Watch the video below and please leave us a Facebook comment to let us know what you thought!
